Pause
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy…”
— Revelation 15:4
Calm your distracting thoughts. See them gathered...stored for later.
Take in the quiet as you breathe deeply.
Let the sacred fill this space as you consider Jesus, the Holy One.
Ponder
Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. — Isaiah 40:25 “No one is holy like the Lord!
There is no one besides you…”
— 1 Samuel 2:2
Fresh fallen snow… a newborn babe… a white-hot flame.
Untainted. Without blemish. Yet it will not last.
Rain turns snow to mud. Flames burn out.
But there is One whose radiant purity can never fade:
Jesus — the Holy One.
To be holy is to be like no other.
Scripture ties holiness to God’s name more than any other attribute.
The Holy One is purer than anything our hearts could imagine --
inherently pure and beyond understanding.
He transcends us in every way.
Our finite minds cannot comprehend this.
We have nothing with which to compare God’s holiness.
His goodness is not like ours, rising and falling on the strength of emotion.
It is holy goodness — always good, perfectly good.
His mercies endure forever because they are holy mercies.
His greatness is unsurpassable because it is holy greatness.
Jesus, the Holy One does not hold us at arm’s length.
He romances and woos us, choosing us for His own --
not because of what we have done, but because of His love… holy love.
The glorious truth...when we become His, Jesus makes us holy. We reflect His beauty.
Set apart for the Holy One, we discover that our yearnings for wonder --
for mystery that transcends our daily existence --
find their fulfillment in Him.
Today, if we could tap into the sounds of heaven
beneath the noise of our world,
we would hear majestic strains of “Holy, Holy, Holy”
reverberating around the throne of our exalted Christ.
May we take the time to pause… and listen…
and offer awe-filled worship to Jesus — the Holy One.
Pray
What might it look like for you to embrace holiness --
— being set apart to reflect the beauty of Jesus –
in your waking and sleeping and dreaming and doing?
The Holy One has made you His own.
What does this mean foryou?
Write a prayer of desire.
Practice
Offer a breath prayer as you go throughout this day, pondering God’s holiness:
Slowly breathe in: Holy, holy, holy.
Gently breathe out: Hallowed be Your Name.
Notice what changes in you
as His holiness draws near.
