Day Four · Redeemer

Pause

As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,
and at the last He will take His stand on the earth…
My heart faints within me!

—Job 19:25, 27

Rest peacefully before the Lord.
Settle into His presence.

To redeem means to liberate--
to pay a price to set someone free…
to make them His own.

What comes to mind when you think of
Jesus as your Redeemer?
What has He set you free from…
and what has He set you free for?

Let these things inhabit your heart
for a few quiet moments.

Ponder

Prefer to listen? Take a quiet moment and press play below.

We often speak of the importance of knowing our purpose--
what drives us, what gives meaning to our lives.

But have you ever considered God’s purpose?
What moved Him, for example,
to send His Son to redeem humankind?

Consider these words from Scripture:

For the grace of God has appeared
that offers salvation to all people.
It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and
worldly passions, and to live self-controlled,
upright and godly lives in this present age,
while we wait for the blessed hope--
the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior,
Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us
to redeem us from all wickedness
and to purify for Himself a people
that are His very own,
eager to do what is good.
Titus 2:11–14

Jesus gave Himself--
to make us His own.

The Redeemer does not simply set us free…
He claims us.

Read the passage again, looking for
a word,
a phrase,
an image
that reveals the heart of God.

Spend some time here
with what you’ve received.

Ponder a Redeemer
who reigns in glory,
yet gives Himself
to free you
and to make you His own.

Pray

Redemption across Scripture
reveals a God who forms
a people for Himself--
not only to set us free,
but to reveal His glory through our lives.

Jesus,
Thank you for freeing me,
for making me Your own.

You have chosen me
for Yourself,
to reflect Your beauty
in all that I am and do.

I am Yours.

Give me the grace to live
for Your glory,
to know this
as my highest joy.

Amen.

Practicing Worship

Spend a few moments in quiet wonder
before your Redeemer.

One day,
the One who gave His life to redeem you
will take His stand on the earth.

Contemplate that moment…
Wait before Him in awe.

Worship the Redeemer
who has made you His own.

When you are ready,
