Day Two · Light
Pause
Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good.
Then he separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:3–4
Let any tension go as you take a few deep breaths.
See Jesus welcoming you to this time with Him.
Look to Him in peaceful gratitude.
Rest quietly in the Light of His presence.

Origin stories are fascinating--
tales about our beginnings,
that shape who we are.
Our universe has an origin story.
In the beginning,
Formless.
Empty.
Darkness.
The Spirit of God hovering—waiting.
Then God spoke.
“Let there be Light.”
And there was.
Glorious, radiant light.
Our souls too were once only darkness.
Our spirits dead—empty, without form.
Yet Scripture tells us--
the Spirit of God hovered over us.
has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe.
They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News.
They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ,
who is the exact likeness of God.
You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves.
We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord,
and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake.
For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,”
has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God
that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.
We now have this light shining in our hearts,
but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars
containing this great treasure. This makes it clear
that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
2 Corinthians 4:4-7
There is a glory
unlike any other,
a radiant beauty in the face of Christ.
As He commanded a formless world,
God spoke to our barren souls,
“Let there be Light.”
And Jesus came--
Light flooding every corner
of our soul with luminous glory.
Read the passage again, looking for
a word,
a phrase,
or an image
that captures your heart.
Sit in the wonder of what you have received.
Let the Light of His glory shine.
Pray
Fragile clay jars
holding the Light of His glory
Not for a moment--
but for eternity.
His life within will never grow dim.
Jesus,
You are the Light of my soul,
a Living Presence.
I am a fragile container,
easily cracked, often broken.
May the wonder of your glory shine
ever more brightly in my brokenness.
Fill every dark place until
my life reflects the radiance of your face
in all that I am.
Practicing Worship
Jesus Christ is Lord.
We ourselves are servants.
But when He shines the Light of His glory,
it changes our world.
Offer Him your heart afresh.
Open it to the glimmers of grace
He longs to pour out.
Worship the Light of the World.
When you are ready,
