Day Two· Learning His Gentle Care
Pause
Listen to the sounds around you.
Let them fade slowly away as you quietly breathe.
Settle your mind, your body, your soul.
Today you do not have to be strong.
Jesus meets you here without judgment.
He whispers, “I am here my child.”
(Let the stillness be a calming blanket for a moment.)
Ponder
Prefer to listen? Take a quiet moment and press play below.
A picture is worth a thousand words, which is why biblical writers often used the powerful image of a shepherd to describe God.
Shepherds were intimately acquainted with their flock—they knew each one by name. They gave them constant care—feeding, guiding, gathering and binding the little lamb’s wounds.
If even one went astray, the shepherd wouldn’t rest until he brought it safely home, carrying it close to his heart.
There is no more tender picture of the gentleness of Jesus than this.
Read the following verses slowly and quietly.
He will rule with a mighty arm.
See, he brings his reward with him as he comes.
He will tend his flock like a shepherd.
He will gather the lambs in his arms
and carry them close to his heart.
He will gently lead those that have young.
Isaiah 40:10–11
Read the passage again—out loud if possible.
As you sit with these words, notice what draws your attention.
Do not rush to understand or explain.
Gently ponder:
- What do you notice about the heart of God here?
- What feels most personal or tender today?
- Where do you sense invitation rather than demand?
Allow a word, phrase, or image to linger.
Pray
Jesus,
You are powerful—yet so tender.
You carry me and hold me close to Your heart.
You lead me with gentleness.
I bring You my need, my struggles,
and my openness to learn.
Teach me Your gentleness.
Let me experience it—and rest in it.
(Sit quietly. Rest. Receive.)
Practice
As you move into the day ahead, carry one word or phrase from this passage with you.
You might return to it as you make decisions,
while carrying out plans,
or as you prepare to rest.
Let it remind you that learning from Jesus means receiving His gentle touch in every part of your life.
No strong zeal needed today--
only an invitation to receive.
