LEARNING HIS HEART

A CONTEMPLATIVE JOURNEY WITH JESUS

Day One · Resurrection

Pause

Still your soul in silence...

Whether you come carrying struggle,
or simply a quiet longing to draw near--
this moment is an invitation.
Everything changes here.

Jesus says:
“I am the resurrection and the life...”

A 14th-century painting called The Anastasis
depicts the risen Christ standing in regal strength,
His arms stretched downward--
grasping the wrists of Adam and Eve
as He pulls them from death’s grave.

Anastasis.
To rise again... resurrection.

Open your heart.
Let this settle over you.

Ponder

The resurrection is not an event, but a person.

We know the Jesus who walked among us--
healing,
restoring,
teaching.
But who is He now?
What does it mean for Jesus
to claim resurrection as His identity?

Consider these words from Scripture:

“When he [Jesus] ascended to the heights,
he led a crowd of captives
and gave gifts to his people.
... And the same one who descended is the
one who ascended higher than all the heavens,
so that he might fill the entire universe with himself. Ephesians 4:7–10 (selected)

What might the risen Christ want to say to you in this moment?

Read the passage again, listening for
a word,
an image,
or a phrase
that lingers with you.

Hold this gently as you hear
Christ—the exalted One--
speaking:

“I am the resurrection and the life.”

Jesus descended--
into death itself.
Jesus ascended--
far above all the heavens.

Not simply to act--
but to reign.
Not simply to rescue--
but to fill all things.

Above you.
Before you.
Behind you.
And in you.

Jesus is alive.
And because He lives--
He reigns.
In glory.
In splendor.
In resurrection power.

Pray

The risen Christ who fills all things
is here now, in this moment.

Where do you need resurrection today?
What do you need Christ’s presence to fill?
Bring that place before Him now.

Jesus,
Raise my heart to see You.
Raise my desires to long for You.
Raise my will to follow You.

Practicing Worship

Rest quietly for a few moments.

As you wait, see Jesus--
exalted in glory,
filling heaven and earth,
yet present with you.

When your mind wanders, gently whisper:
“Jesus, You are the resurrection and the life.”

Resurrection is not only a future promise...
It is a person.

Worship the One who fills all things
with His power and presence.

When you are ready, continue on.
