Day Three· The Voice that Communes
Pause
Center your heart through quiet breathing.
As you inhale: “Lord, I receive Your love.”
As you exhale: “Lord I release my cares to You.”
Continue until you feel a sense of peace.
So many things compete for your attention.
The din of distractions.
The roar of demands.
Jesus wants to meet you in this moment, in this place.
Let His peaceful presence cut through the clamor.
His grace is enough.
(Continue quietly, resting in His love for a few moments.)
Ponder
Prefer to listen? Take a quiet moment and press play below.
It was the quietest tapping—so easy to miss in the middle of the night. Our youngest son, longing for the comfort of presence, knew we slept only a wall away. So he knocked—patiently and persistently...until one of us came.
Daily, there is a gentle tapping on our soul—so quiet it is easy to miss. But if we listen, we will hear Jesus’ voice, humbly seeking our presence.
To learn from Jesus is to know that He knocks-patiently, persistently, longing for us to hear His voice and open the door in welcome.
Read Revelation 3:20-22 slowly and quietly.
Revelation 3:20-22
Read the passage again—out loud if possible.
As you sit with these words, notice what draws your attention.
Do not rush to understand or explain.
Gently ponder:
- What do you notice about the heart of God here?
- What feels most personal or tender today?
- Where do you sense invitation rather than demand?
Allow a word, phrase, or image to linger.
If you have time, write your word, phrase or image at the top of the page and jot down two or three thoughts that come to mind.
Pray
Jesus,
Jesus,
You are here at my heart’s door.
You wait for me to hear Your voice, for me to let You in,
That we might share a meal together.
I am sad at the times I’ve missed You.
And grateful that You never stop knocking.
Let me learn to listen,
To welcome You with joy into the raucous reality of my days.
(Sit quietly. Hear Jesus knocking. Rest as He enters in.)
Practice
As you move into the day ahead,
carry one word or phrase from this passage with you.
You might return to it
as you wait in lines,
navigate traffic,
or pause in gratitude.
Let it remind you that learning from Jesus
means having a heart to hear,
and to welcome Him in.
Learning from Jesus means communing with Him.
