Day Two · The Voice that Calls
Pause
Take some time to still your soul and quiet your mind. Release any tight muscles. Rest in stillness.
Let go of self-judgement, of the need to evaluate your progress.
Jesus is here, waiting for you with eager joy.
Welcome Him as He welcomes you.
(Let the stillness be a calming blanket for a moment.)

Ponder
We lived in a tiny village—no internet, no computers, no cell phones. The communal landline—unreliable and inconsistent—was our only hope of connecting with the people we’d left behind should an emergency arrive.
We were struggling. Loneliness had set in and unnamed fears kept me awake at night. Then tragedy struck some of our dearest friends there. We were shattered.
One day a boy flew through our cabin door—“There’s a call for you!” Donning jackets and boots, we ran as fast as we could. It was my father’s voice on the other end-I would know it anywhere. How can I describe the comfort that call brought? We felt such hope with just the sound of his voice.
How much more can the sound of our heavenly Father's voice soothe our souls? Jesus, our Good shepherd calls us by name, a blessing and a mystery.
Learning from Jesus is finding comfort in His call.
Read John 10:3-5 below slowly and thoughtfully.
If you have time, read the passage again aloud.
Allow a word, phrase, or image to linger.
As you sit with this, notice what draws your attention.
Do not rush to understand or explain.
Gently ponder:
- What do you notice about the heart of Jesus for you in these words?
- What feels most personal or tender toward you today?
- Where do you sense invitation rather than demand?
You may want to take some time to journal your thoughts.
Pray
Jesus,
You are not a silent God. You call me by name.
Your voice is like no other--
when You speak I find comfort and peace.
I want to listen, to learn to run towards Your voice.
Teach me to recognize when You call,
to live within the beautiful sound that changes everything.
(Sit quietly. Listen. Wait.)
Practice
As you move into the day ahead,
carry one word or phrase from this passage with you.
You might return to it
as you prepare for the day,
while driving or walking,
or as you prepare to rest.
Let it remind you that learning from Jesus
means living within the beautiful sound of His voice.
Learning from Jesus means listening to His call.
